A salary slip is a payroll statement for a defined pay period, with earnings and deductions leading to take-home pay. This salary slip generator helps organise employer-approved figures such as employee details, paid days, allowances, deductions and net salary for internal records. It does not issue an official payslip: the employer or payroll team must provide or approve that document. Check every amount against the payroll register before saving a draft.
How to Create Salary Slip Online | Employee Payslip Template
Use the salary slip generator to organise employee details, the pay period, earnings and deductions. The payslip generator works best when the payroll calculation is already approved and you enter those figures faithfully. Check the employee ID, department and payment date before reviewing amounts. A salary slip maker arranges the record; it does not verify employment or determine which allowances and deductions your organisation must apply.
Fields to check before you download
A payslip explains how an employee’s pay for a period becomes the amount payable. Gross pay is the sum of earnings for that period. Net pay is gross pay less employee deductions. CTC is the employer’s compensation cost and can contain amounts that are not paid into the employee’s bank account each month.

Choose a salary slip format that separates earnings and deductions
A monthly salary slip should show the relevant pay period rather than only a document date. Keep basic salary and allowances in the earnings area, and check each deduction independently. A simple salary slip format makes the gross amount and take-home amount easy to compare. Where the layout includes paid days or loss-of-pay days, match those entries to the approved attendance calculation before saving the record.

The preview calculates earnings, deductions and their difference. It does not calculate PF, ESI, professional tax or income-tax withholding from a universal formula. CTC is not an input or an automatic conversion in this workflow. Attendance values do not recalculate the manually entered earnings.
Do not enter annual CTC in Basic Salary or treat it as monthly gross pay.
Reconcile every non-zero allowance; old sample values can otherwise inflate gross pay.
Employee deductions and employer contributions are different amounts. Do not deduct the employer’s share again.
There is no dedicated TDS field in this layout. If using Other Deduction, keep an approved, clear explanation and check that the chosen layout presents the required breakup.
Payment Status is entered text; it does not confirm a bank credit.
Use employer-approved figures for actual payroll records. A sample prepared in this editor is not employer-issued proof by itself.
Review the payroll copy before sharing
Before preparing a salary slip for an employee, check names, account references and the final net amount for that month. A salary slip format PDF keeps the layout stable, but it still needs a review after downloading. Share payroll records only with the intended recipient through your normal process. The editor supports preparation and preview; a sample becomes an employer-issued record only through the employer’s authorised review and issuance.
Preview and download access
Editing and previewing are free. Downloads require sign-in and either an active plan or enough purchased credits: 10 credits for a PDF and 5 credits for an image. Free users see the platform watermark in the preview. Signed-in users with a credit balance or an active plan can choose a download format and preview without the watermark. View credits and plans.
Salary Slip FAQs
Find quick answers to common questions about creating and using this template.
Which amounts are calculated automatically?
The preview adds entered earnings, adds entered deductions and subtracts deductions from earnings. Statutory deduction amounts and attendance-related pay adjustments must be supplied from the approved payroll calculation.
Does CTC equal take-home salary?
No. CTC can include employer contributions or benefits that are not monthly cash earnings. Gross pay describes earnings before employee deductions; take-home pay is the amount after those deductions.
Should every employee have the same PF or ESI deduction?
No. Coverage, contribution basis and applicable conditions matter. Enter the employee’s correctly determined payroll amount; the sample is only an arithmetic demonstration.
Can this become an official payslip?
An employer or authorised payroll team must issue or approve an official payslip. Entering a company name or signatory label does not establish that approval.
What is the difference between the pay period and pay date?
The period identifies the work month or covered dates. The pay date identifies when payment was made. A September salary paid in October should retain both correctly.
Where should an employer contribution appear?
Do not deduct it from take-home pay simply because it forms part of CTC. Follow the employer’s approved payroll presentation and distinguish it from employee deductions.
Why can my bank credit differ from the displayed net salary?
Check separate reimbursements, adjustments, arrears and split transfers with payroll. Keep an explanation rather than silently changing an earning or deduction.
Should a sample payslip contain real bank details?
Use illustrative or appropriately masked data for demonstrations. Share actual payroll records only with the intended recipient through an appropriate channel.
Which format should I choose for sharing the finished record?
PDF is useful for a document that needs a stable page layout; an image suits image-based sharing. Review the current export choices in the editor and inspect the downloaded file before sending it.
Can I edit and preview before buying download access?
Yes. Editing and previewing are free. Downloads require sign-in and an active plan or purchased credits. A PDF uses 10 credits and an image uses 5 credits when using the credit wallet.
What should I do if text is missing from the preview?
Check whether the selected layout supports the field, then review long names, addresses and notes. Compare the preview after a change. Do not assume that a value entered in the form is printed in every layout.
What does this document record?
Arrange approved payroll figures in a salary-slip layout. Enter the employee, pay period, earnings and deductions, then compare gross pay and take-home pay in the preview. The editor totals the amounts you supply; it does not run payroll or decide statutory deductions. Use it only for the transaction or event described by the source information.
When should I use this document type?
Use this format when its purpose and fields fit the real transaction and the recipient accepts this kind of record. Check any written requirements before preparing a final copy.
How is this different from an invoice, bill or receipt?
An invoice or bill describes charges for goods or services, while a receipt acknowledges payment received. Choose the record that matches the transaction stage and keep the payment status accurate.
Which source information should I keep?
Retain the original provider or issuer document, payment evidence and any related order, agreement or approval. A formatted copy does not replace a source record when the recipient requires it.
