Prepare an invoice draft with supplier and recipient details, place of supply, item values and a visible GST breakup. Confirm the applicable particulars and tax treatment before using any real invoice. Enter the actual supplier and customer identifiers, item descriptions, quantities, rates and relevant tax percentages. Review discounts, place of supply and the applicable CGST/SGST or IGST treatment before checking the total. The template helps organise an invoice, while registration details, statutory particulars and any e-invoicing requirement still need to be confirmed for the specific transaction.
How to Create GST Invoice Online | Business Tax Invoice Template
The GST invoice generator brings supplier and customer details, invoice references, item lines and tax amounts into one layout. Enter the registration details and supply information that apply to the actual transaction. An online GST bill generator helps you review the printed draft, but it does not verify GSTINs or decide the correct classification. Use approved descriptions and rates, then compare the preview with your underlying sales record.
Fields to check before you download
The GST template arranges entered invoice particulars and calculates item taxes. It does not verify registration, classify a supply, generate an official IRN or submit a return. Read the linked invoice-particulars guide for the distinction between core requirements and optional design fields.
Field purpose, illustrative value and applicability
Field
Purpose
Example
When it applies
Company Name / Your Name / Company’s Address
Identify the supplier and contact.
Sample Supplies; Aarav Sample; Example Road, Pune
Use the registered supplier’s correct particulars for a real invoice.
Company’s GSTIN / Client’s GSTIN
Record relevant registration identifiers.
Blank in the teaching draft
Use verified identifiers where applicable; random generation does not validate registration.
Bill To / City / State
Identify the recipient.
Sample Buyer; Mumbai; Maharashtra
Recipient address alone does not settle every place-of-supply question.
Invoice Number / Date
Reference the billing event.
SAMPLE-GST-001; 15 September 2026
Maintain the applicable serial-number requirements for actual tax invoices.
Place Of Supply
State the supply location used for the tax review.
Maharashtra
Determine it under the applicable supply rules.
Description / HSN/SAC / Qty / Rate
Describe and value each supply.
Sample supply; classification to verify; 2 × ₹1,000
The demonstrated Rate is exclusive of the entered item taxes.
SGST% / CGST% / IGST% / CESS%
Enter applicable rates in their own columns.
9 / 9 / 0 / 0 in this example
The fields are manual; do not add both tax systems for the same supply.
Notes and Terms / Due Date
Explain commercial terms and draft limitations.
Arithmetic sample only; due 30 September
A payment due date is distinct from invoice date.
Choose a GST invoice format with clear tax columns
A GST invoice format should make the taxable value and applicable tax components readable. Review the place of supply before choosing the tax treatment; the customer’s postal address alone may not settle that decision. In a GST tax invoice format, check quantities, rates, discounts and HSN or SAC entries together. Keep the invoice reference consistent with your own numbering process rather than relying on the sample number.

The example assumes both lines share the stated treatment. Do not copy that assumption to a real delivery charge without checking the supply. Template 1 has no dedicated discount or reverse-charge switch; confirm that the selected layout can state every applicable particular. Keep detailed Rule 46 guidance in the linked supporting article.
Do not treat a random GSTIN generator as a registration check.
Do not leave default HSN/SAC codes attached to unrelated supplies.
Changing State or Place Of Supply does not relieve you of checking the manually entered tax columns.
Do not enter a tax-inclusive price as Rate and then add the full tax again.
The teaching screenshot intentionally omits particulars and must not be copied as a complete statutory invoice.
A formatted draft does not establish registration, correct classification, e-invoicing compliance or input-tax-credit eligibility.
Inspect the draft before it enters your records
A GST invoice format PDF can be retained with the source sale once the responsible person has checked it. Review the CGST, SGST or IGST presentation and the final amount after any corrections. Creating an attractive GST bill template does not complete a required government reporting step, generate an IRN or establish input-tax-credit eligibility. Complete any applicable external compliance process and keep its evidence with the final invoice.

GST Invoice FAQs
Find quick answers to common questions about creating and using this template.
Are CGST, SGST and IGST chosen automatically?
The demonstrated table exposes separate manual rates. Determine the correct treatment and verify that unused tax columns are zero.
Is the example ready to issue as a GST invoice?
No. It is an arithmetic draft with GSTIN and HSN/SAC intentionally blank. Supply the correct applicable particulars and complete the required review for a real invoice.
Does this create an IRN or file a GST return?
No. The generator formats entered data and does not perform GST portal registration or filing.
Can I use the example’s 18% rate for every item?
No. It is illustrative. Confirm the applicable classification, rate and treatment for the specific goods or services before entering tax percentages.
Does typing a GSTIN validate the registration?
No. Verify the registration details through the appropriate process and ensure the party’s name and address match the transaction.
What should I do if taxable values and totals differ?
Check quantities, rates, discount treatment and each tax component. Reconcile the invoice against the approved transaction rather than adjusting a total without a basis.
Can a generated PDF replace an e-invoicing requirement?
No. If e-invoicing applies, the required official process remains necessary. This editor does not generate an official IRN.
Which format should I choose for sharing the finished record?
PDF is useful for a document that needs a stable page layout; an image suits image-based sharing. Review the current export choices in the editor and inspect the downloaded file before sending it.
Can I edit and preview before buying download access?
Yes. Editing and previewing are free. Downloads require sign-in and an active plan or purchased credits. A PDF uses 5 credits and an image uses 1 credit when using the credit wallet; there are no free download credits.
What should I do if text is missing from the preview?
Check whether the selected layout supports the field, then review long names, addresses and notes. Compare the preview after a change. Do not assume that a value entered in the form is printed in every layout.
